In 1973 with the 180 AC which we also used for farming it started to cost more money to win, needed 2 turbo chargers, bigger tires, and etc. In Feb 74 we had a call from some friends (who we used to beat most of time), had just blew up their engine at a pull in Louisville KY and needed a engine so I sold them my pulling engine. They came up, pick it up put it in and finished pulling that week. I through it was a good time to quit, It look like you would never make enough money to keep going any more with out putting more money in all the time.
You know it is hard to quit something you done for 7 years in you spare time so I started to build the M 5 Minneapolis Moline with money from the sale my AC pulling engine. Tried to keep it a low budget deal, Ran this one on racing alcohol it turned out fine ran very well. After placing 2 rd in the 5200# class at the 1976 Iowa State Fair we had a offer from a guy in Texas for the tractor, so I sold it got my money back and quit for good. My wife was very happy.
I have always like to build things whatever it was.
